The tool this page covers is TipLivo, a tip calculator. Put simply, it works out the tip, the total and each person's share, with quick percentages, a pre- or post-tax switch, bill splitting and rounding, and the way it does so is this: it applies the percentage to the bill, optionally before or after tax, then divides the total by the number of people and can round to whole units, so the numbers a group actually pays add up to the bill. Everything stated here applies to that tool and the values it handles, and to nothing else.

Everything the tool works with — the bill amount and party size you enter — is handled locally. It is usually reached for things like splitting a taxi fare evenly, and because nothing is transmitted a visitor can close the tab knowing no copy was made anywhere.

Reading a financial projection

Unless a page says otherwise, the money tools assume rates stay fixed, contributions never change, and fees and inflation are set aside. None of that holds exactly in the real world. A TipLivo figure is an illustration rather than a forecast and should never be the sole basis for a financial decision.
