This is the privacy notice for tiplivo.com, operated by TipLivo ("we", "us"). It covers the information we deal with and the options open to you. Briefly: the bill amount and party size you enter are computed locally and never leave your machine.

The tool this policy covers

The tool this page covers is TipLivo, a tip calculator. Put simply, it works out the tip, the total and each person's share, with quick percentages, a pre- or post-tax switch, bill splitting and rounding, and the way it does so is this: it applies the percentage to the bill, optionally before or after tax, then divides the total by the number of people and can round to whole units, so the numbers a group actually pays add up to the bill. Everything stated here applies to that tool and the values it handles, and to nothing else.

Everything the tool works with — the bill amount and party size you enter — is handled locally. It is usually reached for things like splitting a taxi fare evenly, and because nothing is transmitted a visitor can close the tab knowing no copy was made anywhere.

Data you give the tool

Every result here is produced by JavaScript running in your browser. Your inputs are used only to render the answer on the page: they are not transmitted to a server, stored, sold, or shared. The calculation needs nothing beyond what is already on the page — it simply applies the percentage to the bill.

Your privacy rights

Wherever you are, you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, and object to how it is used. Given how little TipLivo collects, the answer will usually be short, but the right stands.

Changes to this policy

The policy is kept current with the site. When something material changes, the date at the top is updated so the revision is visible.

Information collected as you browse

Standard server logs are generated when your browser requests a page. They cover technical details like your IP address, browser, referring URL and timestamps, and are used only to keep the site running and secure. None of it is linked to the input you give the tool.

Cookies, ads and advertising partners

Two things can set cookies on tiplivo.com: our own consent flag, which remembers your answer to the banner, and the third-party advertising network, which may use them for interest-based ads. Refuse them all and the tool still behaves exactly as before.

What our statistics cover

We watch which of the TipLivo tools get used, in aggregate, so that effort goes where it is useful. That is the extent of it — no individual profile, and no analytics event ever includes the values you entered.

The money figures you type

Money figures are among the things people least want shared, and they are handled accordingly: no balance, rate or contribution leaves the browser at any point in the calculation.

How long data is kept, and how it is protected

Retention is close to a non-question here, because almost nothing personal is retained. What you enter lives in the tab; the site itself is served over TLS and maintained as needed.

Children's privacy

TipLivo provides general-purpose tools and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
